Working on you

Can you believe May is already almost over? Where has the time gone? I started this month off with a 3-day State PTA Convention and that took me out of my normal routine. We also had some astrology shifts such as Mercury, planet of communications, going into a retrograde (not moving with the earth flow) and Mars crossed the sun. Just for the record, Mars crossing the sun only happens 12 times in a century! We have had this happen twice so far in this current century. Once in 2006 and now in 2016 so that is one of those rare times in astrology. Now you are probably asking, “What does that mean to me?” Every planet represents different phases in our lives. Mars is the action planet of the zodiac. When Mars is so close to the sun, it means that it is a time to take action in our lives. The universe has the way of nudging us to the next level. Everyone has goals, dreams, and aspirations, but you need support and courage to make those things happen. This aspect of astrology tells us when it is a good opportunity to make changes happen in our lives.

So, it’s a great time to start a lifestyle change, better yourself in your career, or stop feeling bad about yourself. Start accepting yourself for who you are, not want you want to be. This is the first steps in self improvement. Acknowledge what you need to work towards. Then you can start mapping out how you will obtain your goals.

My work as a spiritual life coach allows me to see how people can make those changes. I specialize in matters of the heart because if your heart is not connected to what you love, then no matter how much money you have, you will not be happy. Man makes money but money doesn’t make the man.

This month is full of positive changes, but we have to first figure out what those changes need to be and what they mean to us. I always say start with you. Do you feel comfortable in your own skin? Are you happy with what you look like? If not, then what are you willing to do to make those changes?
I recently lost over 20 pounds! I know that losing weight takes planning and focus so I made this a healthy lifestyle choice. I don’t deprive myself – I just made certain choices and decisions for my body type. Surrounding yourself with motivating people is also another way to keep your head on straight. No one needs to have that friend who guides you to make choices that are not good for you. Every now and then, sure, you can make that unhealthy choice. But you can’t do that everyday and expect to be happy.

Meditations is another way to tune into yourself. Taking 10 minutes out of your day to hear yourself think is extremely important. Silence your phone, turn off the TV, and put on some ocean music. Just sit there and let your mind listen to the music. The mind will continue to race but if you keep at it, you will find a stillness that will make you feel at ease. Set yourself up with a nice space. I recommend using aromatherapy candles to help set the mood. I personally love the new Sage Lavender candles from Candles by Ari because the scent really does make people relax. Who doesn’t love Lavender and Sage? Drink your water! I know I say this all the time but drinking water does wonders for the body. It makes your skin clear, cleans out the organs, and helps you sleep better. Start off with just adding a few extra cups in your day. When you can, grab a bottle of water instead of coffee or soda. A little bit goes a long way. Whatever you do, don’t stop trying – change is not always easy but it can be done little by little.
